The Brazilian midfielder has had to endure a lot of criticism from experts and Manchester United supporters during his time at Old Trafford, but in his 100th Premier League match he was the one who made sure that the Reds at least avoided losses against Leicester.

In any case, there were two lost points for Manchester United in the battle for a Champions League place, and in the last four games there have only been five points.

With eight league rounds left, Rangnick’s team is in sixth place, three points behind Arsenal in fourth and final Champions League place. However, the London club has played two games fewer.

After a rather tame first half at Old Trafford, it caught fire in the second.

Barely five minutes were played after the break when Scott McTominay came with a whistling tackle on James Maddison. Manchester United’s defensive midfielder lost the ball high in the field, and threw himself into the duel with Maddison with the knobs first.

Judge Andre Marriner contented himself with giving the yellow card, to the great despair of the guests.

A few minutes later Rangnick took over from McTominay, and soon after came the scores. First by the guest Kelechi Iheanacho.

Maddison swung in a precise post, which Iheanacho headed towards goal. Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea got his fingers on the ball, but still failed to prevent Leicester from taking the lead.

However, they were not to lead for long, for three minutes later the opposite narrowed.

Bruno Fernandes fired a shot from 16 yards out, and Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was unable to avoid a return. On it came Fred storming, and knocked in the equalizer.

With less than ten minutes left, it looked like Leicester took back the lead, when Iheanacho quarreled the ball on to Maddison who knocked it into goal. The Leicester camp cheered uncontrollably for scoring, but after a VAR check, a free kick was awarded to Raphael Varane in a duel with Iheanacho and the scoring was canceled.

Then it was with the two goals, and it ended 1-1 at Old Trafford.
