Manchester United: “Cristiano Ronaldo thinks he’s God!”

The smartphone scandal surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo caused a great uproar at the weekend. Jose Enrique may have confirmed that in his opinion of the superstar. The former professional footballer has never liked CR7 anyway.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Enrique have twice faced each other in competitive matches. When the superstar was under contract for the first time at Manchester United and Jose Enrique was still playing for Newcastle United, the two footballers crossed paths.

“I’ve always said it: I don’t like him. He thinks he’s God and can do whatever he wants,” Enrique lets his feelings about his former sporting rival free on Instagram. “That’s not to say he’s not one of the best players in football history, but I don’t like him as a person.”

Enrique’s statement stems from what happened last weekend. Cristiano Ronaldo made a guest appearance with United at Everton and lost the game 0-1. The Portuguese then left the pitch in a bad mood and on the way back to the dressing room slapped the mobile phone out of a young fan’s hand.

Cristiano Ronaldo has already apologized to the victim and offered to come to United Stadium for a game. “Also, if possible, I would like to invite this fan to watch a game at Old Trafford as a show of fair play and sportsmanship,” the 37-year-old wrote on Instagram.

Jose Enrique played for Liverpool, Newcastle and Valencia

Jose Enrique (36) not only spent four years with Newcastle United during his playing career, he also played for Manchester United’s arch-rivals Liverpool FC for five years. He was also on the ball in the Spanish Primera Division for Celta Vigo, Valencia, Villarreal and Real Zaragoza. In total, Enrique played almost 300 professional games.
