Ed Woodward completed the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer in Gary Lineker’s garden, says the football legend.
In the podcast Match of the Day Top 10, Lineker says that he is a neighbor and a close friend of Manchester United director Ed Woodward, writes several media, including The Mirror.
And the English legend’s friendship with Woodward led him to come closer to Ronaldo’s shocking transfer back to United than most.
The last negotiations in the transition took place in Lineker’s garden, where Woodward was engaged in a telephone conversation with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes.

Lineker also claims that he has a picture of Woodward while talking to Mendes on the phone.
– I put all the cards on the table – Ed Woodward is a good friend of mine and lives next to me, he says, before continuing:
– He signed Cristiano Ronaldo when he was in my garden. When he went in he was in a phone conversation with Jorge Mendes – I hope I do not reveal too much! says Lineker.
As is well known, Woodward got Ronaldo to sign for Manchester United. The big club had to pay around 20 million euros for the Portuguese, who signed a two-year agreement with an option for another year.
The 36-year-old has not spent much time recovering in England, and has scored five goals in his first six games in his second season at the club.

Alan Shearer was also in the podcast for Lineker, and believes it was a “no-brainer” for Manchester United to resign Ronaldo. He believes the transition will allow the club to fight for the biggest titles again.
– Manchester United have not managed to challenge in recent years, but they have looked different now with Ronaldo. They are ready to challenge now, he says.

To put the transition in perspective, Shearer stated the following:
– They sold Daniel James for 25 million pounds and brought in Ronaldo for the same price.
But despite the fact that Shearer has liked what he has seen of Manchester United since Ronaldo was brought in, not everyone has been convinced by what the red shirts have delivered lately.
They were knocked out of the League Cup when West Ham beat them 1-0, which was later followed by a loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League. Then they took what many thought was an undeserved victory over Villarreal in the Champions League, before they played a draw against Everton this weekend.
This has led to criticism of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who really gets to test himself when the national team break is over.
This is because six big teams are waiting for the next seven matches in the Premier League, in addition to important matches in the Champions League.
In the next seven Premier League matches, they will face Leicester, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
