Manchester United finally finished the move Andrew Onan. The goalkeeper from Cameroon is contracted until 2028.
Certainty transfer of Onana from Inter Milan announced MU, Friday (21/7/2023) early morning WIB, shortly after the player’s departure to New York to join his colleagues on the Pre-season Tour.
To bring Onana, MU had to spend 51 million euros plus 4 million euros as a bonus. Onana is projected to be the main goalkeeper to replace David de Gea.
Onana has signed a five-year contract with a salary of up to 7 million euros per season, almost double what he got at Inter.
“Andre is our top choice for a new Manchester United goalkeeper, who fits into our criteria in terms of attributes and personality,” said MU Director of Football John Murtough on the club’s official website.
“With the success he has achieved during his career, we know Andre can instill a winning spirit into this team. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and at 27 years old, we are very confident he can be even better going forward,” Murtough continued.
Onana became Manchester United’s second purchase this summer after Mason Mount. During his career, Onana has strengthened Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam.
However, his career flourished with Ajax with 214 matches over six seasons before moving to Inter Milan in 2022. At Inter, Onana played a major role in guiding Inter to the Champions League Final, before being defeated by Manchester City 0-1.
at Inter, Andrew Onan has 41 appearances with 36 goals conceded and 19 clean sheets.
