Manchester United were heading for defeat against Brentford. But the coach Erik ten Hag showed evidence of fingertip feeling in a change.
Scott McTominay was substituted in the 87th minute, at 1-0 down. Ten minutes later he had decided the match with two goals.
That was exactly what ten Hag wanted from the midfielder.
– I told him to score two goals (before the change), says ten Hag according to Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst.
ten Hag also praises McTominay for the effort.
– You can see that he is Manchester United in every way, that he is that in his heart. He plays for the club brand, he gives his life. When you come in and contribute that to the team, it says a lot.
26-year-old McTominay has played at the club his entire career.
The victory means that Manchester United are currently twelfth in the Premier League.
