Manchester United changes target for summer transfer window

Manchester United have reportedly turned their attention to another French center-back after ending their interest in Dayot Upamcano.

The RB Leipzig star appeared to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first choice for the job, as he has been linked with a potential transfer for many months now.

United’s weakness in defense has come to light again, with Everton being the latest team to show everyone why an investment is needed.

Many believe that Harry Maguire needs a more complementary partner than Victor Lindelof, as the couple seem to get the worst out of each other.

Solskjaer has already invested too much in the England defender to let him down, so it is clear that the Swedish center-back will have to give way.

According to the Independent, with Bayern Munich appearing to have won the race for Upamecano’s signing, the Red Devils have targeted teammate Ibrahima Konate instead, although they will have to fight Liverpool and Chelsea to sign him.

The latter is a year younger and reports claim he has been just as impressive for Leipzig this season as his teammate.

The problem with this transfer is that the German giants are unlikely to be ready to lose two high potential center-backs in one summer, which means it’s likely that Upamecano or Konate will leave and not both.
