Last year’s season was a huge disappointment for Manchester United, after 6th place in the league.
On Saturday, rumors surfaced that the club’s big superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, wants to leave the club this summer, in search of Champions League football.
It joins the ranks of things that are going on in the big club at the moment, something the renowned United journalist Andy Mitten addresses in a longer interview with Sky Sports.
– Players come to Old Trafford, and get noticeably worse, he starts.

– 80 percent fail
Manchester United fans have been in the habit of watching the club bring in one star after another in the previous summer windows. The center believes it is time for a change:
– I think Manchester United must find another way to win, other than to bring in the big names who create commercial attention and followers in social media, but who always disappoint.
And continues:
– 80 percent of the players who have come to Manchester United since 2013 have failed or underperformed. It is alarming that such good players come to the club and get worse. If a manager had come in and wanted players you have hardly heard of, I think more would be positive about it now.

Erik ten Hag has been brought in as the new head coach, but still has the benefit of signing a new player this summer. The reports have it that the Dutchman Frenkie de Jong will be high on the wish list.
The Ronaldo rumors
Several of the team’s older stars such as Nemanja Matic, Edison Cavani and Juan Mata have already been phased out, after their contracts expired on 1 July.
– United’s “Galactico” -like strategy has been shot in the blind. Edison Cavani, who is a good striker, finished his first season in Manchester Unites strongly, but his second season was weak with huge salaries.
The Times reported on Saturday that Cristiano Ronaldo has informed the club that he wants new challenges next season, and wants to leave.
– Ronaldo has a huge salary. Ed Woodward worked hard to get that deal ashore, and many were happy to get him into the club, especially commercially.
