Manchester United was held 1-1 on Sunday by Chelsea at Old Trafford for the first interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy in the English championship, whose “Red Devils” are in 13th place after ten days.
The Mancunians opened the scoring with a penalty converted by captain Bruno Fernandes (70th, 1-0), but their advantage lasted only four minutes, time for Moises Caicedo to equalize (74th, 1-1 ).
The point obtained by Chelsea allows the London club to climb to fourth place with 18 points, the same number as fifth-placed Arsenal and sixth-placed Aston Villa, both beaten at the weekend.
Manchester United are in 13th place with 12 points after this third draw of the season (compared to three wins and four losses).
The north-west English club sacked Dutch coach Erik ten Hag on Monday and appointed compatriot Ruud van Nistelrooy to take charge of Portugal’s Ruben Amorim.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain on Manchester United’s bench for the next league game against Leicester, before Amorim’s debut against Ipswich and Everton.
