Manchester United stepped into the FA Cup final to face Manchester City after winning on penalties 7-6 (0-0) over Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley Stadium, London, Monday (24/4) early morning Indonesian time.

Brighton became the first team to spread threats in this match. Two opportunities were obtained by Alexis Mac Allister and Julio Enciso but they failed to score.

MU just got a chance in the 14th minute. Bruno Fernandes fired a shot from outside the penalty box which Robert Sanchez was still able to secure.

The match between the two teams then went tough. Brighton and MU created minimal chances until midway through the first half.

MU can control the game near the end of the first half. That dominance resulted in at least three chances for Fernandes, Anthony Martial and Christian Eriksen but none of them scored.

Entering the second half, Brighton held the domination of the game. The Seagulls got a series of opportunities but were unable to find the net against David de Gea, who played impressively under the MU bar.

MU can slowly get out of Brighton’s pressure. One chance got Antony but his shot was still too weak and was easily saved by Sanchez in the 64th minute.

Brighton and MU took turns launching attacks in the remaining time of the second half. But no goals could be created and the match had to go to extra time.

MU got a golden opportunity ahead of the end of the first half of extra time. Marcus Rashford’s hard shot that led to the left corner of the goal was brilliantly thwarted by Sanchez.

Brighton and MU could not score until the extra time ended. Determination of the winner of this match must proceed to the round of penalties.

In the penalty shootout, seven MU penalty takers successfully carried out their duties, namely Casemiro, Diogo Dalot, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Marcel Sabitzer, Wout Weghorst and Victor Lindelof. Meanwhile, Solly March was the only Brighton player who failed to kick a penalty and automatically made MU challenge Man City in the FA Cup final.
