There is always a first for everything. Including Derby Manchester who will be performing in 2022/2023 FA Cup final, Manchester City vs Manchester United.

The two Manchester teams became FA Cup finalists after beating their opponents from the third round to the semifinals. City first confirmed a ticket to the final in the semifinals at Wembley, Saturday (22/4/2023) evening WIB.

The Citizens beat Championship team Sheffield United with a score of 3-0 through Riyad Mahrez’s hat-trick. City’s steps were followed by MU against Brighton & Hove Albion, Sunday (23/4/2023) evening WIB.

However, MU’s struggle was more difficult because they had to face Brighton’s tough resistance. Throughout 120 minutes, MU was under pressure from Brighton who was more dominant.

When the game had to be finished on penalties, MU showed a big team mentality by beating Brighton with a score of 7-6, Victor Lindelof missed Soley March’s penalty.

MU’s qualification for the FA Cup final means creating a Manchester Derby duel at Wembley on June 3. As quoted by Opta, this is the first time City vs MU has dueled at the top of the competition.

For MU, this is the 21st FA Cup final which has made them equal Arsenal’s record as the most frequent finalist team. MU is also for the third time able to qualify for two domestic cup finals, the FA and the English League Cup, after 1982/1983 and 1993/1994.

City and MU beat each other at home this season. City first won 6-3 in October 2022, before MU replied with a score of 2-1 in January.
