Manchester City’s Turnaround Victory Against Everton Comes at a Cost: Guardiola Furious and Stones Injured

Manchester City turned around and won against Everton, but the victory was expensive.

John Stones went out injured – after a situation that infuriated Pep Guardiola.

– It doesn’t look good, says Guardiola afterwards.

Since the introduction of VAR, the assistant referees have been instructed to keep the flag down in tight offside situations.

The assistant referee did that in tonight’s match between Everton and Manchester City, despite the fact that the home team’s striker Beto was offside.

That, in turn, forced City centre-back John Stones to pursue the situation and, in his eagerness to stop a potential free-kick, twisted his ankle and was forced off injured.

Pep furious

Afterwards, there was a real uproar in the City camp with manager Pep Guardiola at the head, reports English media and Norwegian VGwho was in place.

Stones has recently returned from an injury and now the key player is at risk of missing out again.

According to the local newspaper Manchester Evening News he seemed to leave the arena with a support boot after the match.

– It doesn’t look good, says Guardiola about Stone’s injury.

In addition, Erling Haaland is already missing, whose foot injury forces him to continue to rest.

– We hope he is back in January, Guardiola said before tonight’s match, where Haaland was not even in the squad.

Turned and won

The match then?

It turned City around and won 3–1, after an early goal by Jack Harrison.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, struggling Chelsea – with much effort and great difficulty – managed to get three points in the London derby against Crystal Palace.

Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke scored the goals.

The last, which meant 2-1, came from the penalty spot in the 89th minute.
