From Manchester City vs Liverpool finished tied 1-1. Goal Erling Haaland in the first half answered Trent Alexander-Arnold in the second half.

Manchester City entertain Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium, Saturday (25/11/2023) evening WIB, in continuation Premier League. The hosts put pressure on their guests after the kick-off, but the advantage was gained from a mistake by the visitors in the 27th minute.

Alisson’s failed pass fell at the feet of Nathan Ake, who passed it to Erling Haaland. Haaland finished it off as a goal to give Man City a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Liverpool tried to increase the pressure in the second half. Their efforts paid off in the 80th minute through Trent Alexander-Arnold’s kick.

With this result, the positions of the two teams are still the same. Manchester City leads the standings with 29 points from 13 matches, one point ahead of Liverpool in second place.

The Course of the Match

Manchester City immediately pressed after kick-off. Jeremy Doku stabbed on the left and sent in a cross which Joel Matip was able to cut. Bernardo Silva continued the pressure, again stopped by Matip.

Alisson tried to hold the ball under Manchester City pressure in the 11th minute, then made the wrong pass. The ball was cut by Phil Foden who then fired. Luckily for Alisson, Foden’s shot was easy to anticipate.

Liverpool threatened again in the 16th minute. Mohamed Salah’s cross from the left was headed by Darwin Nunez and headed into the top left corner of the goal. Ederson brushed it off with one hand.

Liverpool played around in defense again, when Curtis Jones passed a pass back to Alisson. Erling Haaland almost grabbed the ball at his feet in front of the goal, but was able to throw it to the left side.

GOAL! Man City took the lead in the 27th minute. Starting from Alisson’s imperfect kick, the ball was controlled by Nathan Ake who then stabbed on the left. He passed the ball to Haaland, who calmly directed it into the bottom right corner of the goal.

Dominik Szoboszlai managed to intercept Man City’s pass in the 35th minute and pass to Darwin Nunez. But the angle was too sharp for Nunez, so his shot with his left foot ended up going wide.

Bernardo Silva stopped Liverpool’s attack in the 42nd minute. He passed to Doku who then led Man City’s counterattack. Doku passed the ball to Julian Alvarez on the right, but the finish was unclear whether it was a shot or a pass to Haaland at the far post.

Foden stabbed from the right to the center in the 44th minute, then shot straight, Alisson dropped to parry with his fingertips.

Chaos occurred in Man City’s defense during injury time in the first half. Szoboszlai’s pass failed to be anticipated by the home defense and Ederson brushed it away. Jota sniffed an opportunity, but he was surrounded by Man City players. The first round is complete.

Opportunity for Liverpool in the 72nd minute! Salah’s through ball from the right was struck by Nunez. Ederson pushed the ball out of the field.

Four minutes later, Man City responded with Haaland’s chance. However, his header went wide.

GOAL! Liverpool equalized the score in the 80th minute. Salah passes the ball to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who sends a low kick into the bottom left corner of the goal!

Man City pressed Liverpool in injury time. Silva’s kick to meet Doku’s pass was still blocked by the visiting team’s defense. Not long after, Haaland’s header deflected Alvarez’s corner just narrowly to the right of the goal.

There were no more goals until the match was over.
