There are no winners in the party Manchester City vs Liverpool. The final score of the duel is 1-1.
In the eighth week of the Premier League match which was held at the Etihad Stadium, Sunday (8/11/2020) evening WIB, Liverpool took the lead in the 13th minute through Mohamed Salah’s penalty.
However, City responded through Gabriel Jesus’ goal in the 32nd minute. After that the match was relatively running at a moderate tempo and not many chances in the second half were created.
Only adding one point, Liverpool failed to return to the top Premier League standings and stuck in third place with 17 points, one point difference from Leicester City at the top. Juergen Klopp’s troops lost to Tottenham Hotspur’s goal productivity in second place.
Man City is still stuck in 11th place with 12 points from seven matches.
The course of the match
Liverpool tried to attack from the early minutes, but City also took care of their opponent. The visitors opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Mohamed Salah’s penalty.
It started with a Kyle Walker foul on Sadio Mane who stabbed from the left. Salah’s kick was powerless to be dammed by Ederson between City’s crossbar.

The goal made Liverpool more comfortable playing the ball in midfield. City did control the game but they had difficulty penetrating the Liverpool defense.
City came close to leveling the score in the 25th minute when Raheem Sterling stabs from the right and shoots the ball into the corner. But Alisson Becker was quick to block it.
City’s quick attack in the 31st minute paid off to level the score at 1-1. Trent Alexander-Arnold was unable to keep Jesus, who escaped after receiving De Bruyne’s bait.

Jesus easily shoved Alisson’s net. The match belonged to City after that because they were able to push the Liverpool defense even deeper.
City get a penalty in the 42nd minute when Joe Gomez is charged with handball when De Bruyne’s cross hits his hand. Even though Gomez had withdrawn his hand, VAR still declared a penalty.
De Bruyne execution but wide of the target so City failed to turn things around. 1-1 score lasted until halftime.

In the second half, City took the initiative to attack Liverpool. They had a golden opportunity in the 55th minute when Joao Cancelo pulled off a cross and Jesus was free without escort, but his header went wide.
Liverpool waited more in this round while launching counter-attacks. Disaster for Liverpool when they lost Trent, who suffered an injury in the 63rd minute and was replaced by James Milner.
City practically had the ball but they still had trouble finding gaps in the back line to create opportunities. No chance was created until the end of the match Man City vs Liverpool complete 1-1
