The fifth day of the Premier League is marked by the game that will face the first two teams in the table on Sunday, both without qualification, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, with 12 points, and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, with 10.
The reigning Premier League champions Citizens, who have not lost at their home ground since November 2022, host last season’s runners-up Gunners at Stadium Etihad at 10:30am. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and Disney +.
City’s start has been perfect, four wins out of four in the English competition and with Norwegian striker Erling Haaland on 9 goals in the league as he looks for his 100th goal for the team, while Arsenal have only drawn against Brighton (1-1) at the end of August.
Mikel Arteta’s men will play their third game away from home in 8 days and will have one less rest day, as they played this Thursday their first game in the Champions League against Atalanta (0-0) .
Very different from Pep Guardiola’s team, who played the Champions League match against Inter Milan on Wednesday (0-0) and will play the third match in a row in 9 days in their stadium.
Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Luis Díaz’s Liverpool, in fourth place, will try to redeem themselves against Bournemouth after losing last weekend at Anfield unexpectedly against Nottingham Forest (0-1).
Meanwhile, Newcastle will try to maintain their third place in the standings (10 points) against Fulham.
In London, there will be a new derby on Saturday between West Ham and Chelsea and on that same day the match between Manchester United and Crystal Palace will close.
