According to TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul, Manchester City have secured the services of Claudio Echeverri. The 17-year-old talent from River Plate is already being considered the “next Lionel Messi” in his native Argentina.

City is paying 25 million euros to River Plate, and Paris Saint-Germain was also previously considered interested. The attacking midfielder should stay in his homeland until the summer, possibly even until the end of the year.
Echeverri most recently shone at the U17 World Cup when he showed his mettle with a memorable hat-trick in the quarter-finals against Brazil. Argentina finished the tournament in fourth place.
In addition to Echeverri, City are also reportedly eyeing two other River Plate talents: Agustin Ruberto and Ian Subiabre.
Both players, who also impressed at the U17 World Cup, have attracted interest from various clubs. In addition to City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also considered possible buyers. City have maintained good relations with River Plate since the transfer of Julian Alvarez in 2022.
