Manchester City is ready for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
For Matheus Nunes, 25, however, it was a dark evening.
The Portuguese dislocated his finger during the match against FC Copenhagen.
With a quarter of an hour left in the round of 16 between Manchester City and FC Copenhagen, the drama had long been blown away.
The English champions were leading 3–1, 6–2 on aggregate, when the accident happened to Matheus Nunes.
The midfielder slipped unhappily in midfield and was about to catch himself with his hand, when his finger bent the wrong way. He grinned evilly, remained lying on the plane and was replaced after re-plastering.

The expert: “Maybe I’m old-fashioned”
Former City goalkeeper Shay Given, now a BBC pundit, was not impressed that the Portuguese came off the field with a finger injury.
– As a goalkeeper, I myself continued to play with a dislocated finger and Matheus Nunes was replaced with one tonight… Maybe it’s me who is old-fashioned, says the 47-year-old Irishman.

The match thus ended 3–1 and it was Erling Braut Haaland who sent in the decision just before the break.
Swedish 18-year-old Roony Bardghji jumped in from the bench for Copenhagen. Jordan Larsson remained on the bench and Viktor Claesson was missing due to injury.
“Is one of the favorites”
City are now ready for the quarter-finals.
– We are in good shape right now. We feel confident about the continuation of the tournament. We are one of the favorites but we have to continue to show why, says City defender Manuel Akanji after the victory against Copenhagen.
Last year they beat Inter 1-0 in the Champions League final.
