Mainly due to Tottenham, which – to put it mildly – did not arrive, even though they played on their home pitch. The Londoners were only a background for a decently fit Manchester City.
However, the English champions were unable to document their advantage for a long time. This was achieved only in the 88th minute after a corner kick. After Kevin De Bruyne’s cross and confusion in the penalty area, Nathan Ake scored a goal. But it was not without controversy, because Gugliermo Vicario was attacked by Ruben Dias. Despite everything, VAR found no offense and the goal was allowed.
Manchester City advanced to the next round of the FA Cup. It’s hard to argue with that because he had the advantage in every possible statistic. It would be an injustice if there was a draw and a replay at the Etihad Stadium, let alone Tottenham won. It was almost impossible because the hosts showed nothing.

It’s good that at least this one goal was scored. Before? Well. The match itself wasn’t bad. We had good intensity and attempted combination actions, but we lacked what is most important in football, i.e. goals. That is, one was scored when Oscar Bobb finished the ball from a few meters after Phil Foden’s blocked shot. However, he did it from an inch offside. Moreover, there were a couple of blocked shots from the visitors.
Tottenham had a disastrous first half hour. He later woke up, but not enough to seriously threaten Stefan Ortega’s goal. Suffice it to say that the Londoners fired… one shot in the entire match. In such circumstances it is impossible to fight for a win against the English champion.
The guests had a few chances after the break. And then Bernardo Silva scored, and then substitute Jeremy Doku broke off and shot from an acute angle. But it was a set piece and Nathan Ake’s presence of mind that kept Manchester City in the FA Cup.
