Pep Guardiola, coach of the English football team Manchester City, confirmed that the quartet of Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku was absent from the team’s game against Southampton scheduled for Saturday.
British news agency (PA Media) reported that Guardiola, who selected just 15 players in the squad that beat Sparta Prague in the Champions League this week, confirmed that he does not know when De Bruyne.
Asked whether De Bruyne and Walker were available or not, Guardiola replied: “No, not yet.”
When pressed on whether De Bruyne’s extended absence due to a thigh injury was a cause for concern, Guardiola said: “Yes, of course, I would prefer the whole team to be ready, with this number of games, but that’s the situation. “
He said: “I hope he will be back soon. I don’t know when yet.
Playmaker De Bruyne has been absent since mid-September, while Walker suffered a knee injury while playing for England this month.
Doku and Grealish joined Manchester City’s injury list this week, and missed the match in which the team beat Sparta Prague 5-0 last Wednesday.
When asked if one of the two would be present in the game, Guardiola replied, “No,” and refused to sugarcoat the injury problems the team is suffering.
