“Manchester City FC is very disappointed to learn of reports of offensive chants from a handful of people about Sir Bobby Charlton in several Etihad Stadium buildings during half-time of yesterday’s Premier League match against Brighton and Hove Albion,” read Man City’s official statement, as reported by Manchester Evening News.
“The club strongly condemns the chant, and apologizes unreservedly to Sir Bobby’s family and friends, and everyone at Manchester United. “Our security team is reviewing CCTV footage in the meeting areas. We thank those who have reported this matter, and we continue to appeal for any information that could help us identify the individuals involved, so that we can take appropriate action to issue a prohibition order,” said Manchester City’s official statement.
