Manchester City are demanding a huge loan fee for defender Ko Itakura as Celtic plan a potential move to sign him.
That’s according to a report in the Daily Record, which states that City is seeking a “substantial” loan fee for the Japanese ace.
Celtic are eager to sign Itakura, but there is also believed to be ‘great interest’ from various European clubs after Itakura impressed last season.

The 24-year-old spent the season on loan at Groningen and starred for the Eredivisie team, becoming one of the best center-backs in Dutch football.
Now back with Manchester City, Itakura is unlikely to join Pep Guardiola’s team for the Premier League campaign next season.
So now it’s up to Celtic to decide if the deal is to their liking.
They certainly have excellent ties to City. The likes of Jason Denayer, John Guidetti, Dedryck Boyata, Olivier Ntcham, Patrick Roberts, Daniel Arzani and Jeremie Frimpong have all joined Celtic from City of late.
Celtic can also offer European action to Itakura, which is certainly attractive to the defender as he looks to show that he can do well in City going forward.
With Celtic’s ties to City and Ange Postecoglou’s knowledge of the Japanese market, Itakura makes perfect sense for the Bhoys.
Billed as “unbelievably fast” by Dutch analysts Hans Kraay Jr, Itakura could well be worth it to Celtic, even if they can’t keep him long term.
