Manchester City defeat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the Premier League continued. This sweet result was colored by Rodri’s red card.
Man City vs Nottingham takes place at the Etihad Stadium, Saturday (23/9/2023) evening WIB. The hosts won thanks to goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, all of which came in the first half.
The second half did not go well for Man City. Rodri was given a red card in the 46th minute for fighting.
Nottingham Forest failed to take advantage of their superior number of players. Man City was able to secure a score of 2-0 until the match was finished.
Man City is still perfect at the top of the Premier League standings in six matches by collecting 18 points. Nottingham is in 10th place with seven points.
The Course of the Match
Phil Foden gave Man City a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. The goal started from Rodri’s cross to Kyle Walker, which was immediately continued with a pass on the right to Foden.
As before, Man City did not relax their game even though they were in a superior position. Pep Guardiola’s troops continue to lock up their opponents.
Erling Haaland then increased Man City’s lead to 2-0 in the 14th minute. The striker from Norway headed the ball after welcoming Matheus Nunes’ cross.
Julian Alvarez fired a shot from outside the penalty box in the 25th minute. Even though it was aimed at the goal, the ball was anticipated by goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Nottingham Forest still had difficulty pressing Man City during the half hour of the match. The visiting team is mostly forced to stay in their own territory.
There were no additional goals in the remaining time of the first half. Man City led 2-0 over Nottingham until halftime.
Man City had to play with 10 people after just one minute of the second half. Rodri was given a straight red card after being involved in a fight with Morgan Gibbs-White.
Tension occurred again in the 58th minute between Taiwo Awoniyi and Ederson Moraes. Referee Anthony Taylor then gave each player a yellow card.
Nottingham actually put more pressure on Man City after having a superior number of players. However, until the 70th minute the score had not yet been reduced.
Haaland wasted a golden opportunity in the 77th minute. In a free position in front of goal, he failed to catch Nathan Ake’s cross perfectly.
There were no goals throughout the second half. Man City finished the match with a 2-0 win.
