Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
Manchester City officially demolished Arsenal from the top of the Premier League standings. This result was obtained after Man City defeated Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage Stadium, Sunday (30/4).
Even though they appeared at the opponent’s cage, Man City continued to appear aggressive and dominated the game. As a result, City managed to lead the match when the game was only three minutes old through penalty execution.
The referee pointed to the spot because Julian Alvarez was violated by Team Ream. Erling Haaland, who was the executor, successfully broke into Fulham’s goal after his shot slid into the lower right corner of the goal.
Not wanting to give up at the start, Fulham managed to reply in the 15th minute. Receiving Harry Wilson’s pass, Carlos Vinicius first controlled the ball with his thigh before releasing a volley into the left corner of the goal.
Man City then almost came back ahead in the 27th minute. Jack Grealish managed to break through from the left and kick off but was saved by goalkeeper Bernd Leno and sent the ball hitting the crossbar.
Alvarez tries to grab the ball rebound but his efforts failed due to pressure from Antonee Robinson.
Alvarez’s efforts only paid off in the 36th minute. The Argentine striker first stabbed into the middle before releasing a curling shot that Leno was able to anticipate.
Man City’s advantage with a score of 2-1 lasted until halftime.
Both Fulham and Man City both attempted to score additional goals in the second half, but none of the goals were created. Man City also has the right to win the match.
This victory was enough for Man City to take over the Premier League standings, which Arsenal had ruled for quite a long time. The Citizens are now packing 76 points or one point ahead of Arsenal.
Man City’s chances of sealing the Premier League title are getting wider because they still have one game more than the Gunners.
