Tottenham Hotspur failed to sign Lautaro Martínez in the summer of 2021, and in January, Spurs could see him lining up for Manchester City.
What is the history?
Inter Live reports that City are interested in signing Martinez from Inter Milan in the January transfer window.
The Argentine international forward is close to signing a new contract with Inter.

However, Premier League champions City are still interested and could make an offer of € 90 million (£ 76.53 million) for Martinez.
Citizens are also willing to pay the 24-year-old € 12 million net (£ 10.20 million) a year as salary.

Will Tottenham Hotspur regret a failed transfer?
If City manage to sign Martinez, described by fellow Argentine national team Lionel Messi as “spectacular”, in the January transfer window, then it will be a serious blow to Spurs.
The north London club had agreed to a £ 60 million fee with Inter for the signing of the forward in the summer of 2021, The Times reported in August.

The forward himself was keen to move to Tottenham, but then Inter sold forward Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea and decided to keep the former Racing Club player.
The Spurs’ plan, according to The Times, was for Martinez to play alongside Harry Kane.
