Guardiola said Manchester City lost because of Toney’s brilliant performance.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was stunned by Ivan Toney’s performance when The citizens their 2-1 defeat to Brentford in the English Premier League continued at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday (12/11) WIB evening.
Ivan Toney’s 98th-minute goal capped off a fine individual performance by the striker, stunned Guardiola and his Manchester City side as they failed to get past number 9 Brentford.
“We had a lot of problems, we couldn’t press high because of the ball [dari] from goalkeeper to striker” Guardiola told reporters.
“In this process we couldn’t win any balls because when Toney got the ball it created problems, when Toney held the ball and played with threes in between he created problems. And in the end we couldn’t get the ball back.”
Manchester City lost their Premier League place to two Ivan Toney goals, with Arsenal’s victory later adding to their misery.
Toney and Brentford are happy with this victory as they managed to break the record of five games without a win against the Manchester team.
Despite his impressive form so far this season, Toney will not travel with England to the World Cup in Qatar this winter.
