Pale Waves, returns with its fifth clip: “You Don’t Own Me”, An eclectic theme that tries to break with the erroneous perspective of the female role. The video was directed by vocalist Heather Baron-Gracie and co-directed by Kelsi Luck., where the singer is shown in an image transition starting from a very feminine stereotype, to another totally rebellious personality.
This single corresponds to the fourth release of the English band, with the prelude to “Easy“(Presented on January 13),”Change”, “She’s My Religion”(2020) and“Fall To Pieces“, Which belong to his new studio album”Who Am I?”, Published at the beginning of this year 2021, through the Dirty Hit label.
Regarding this song, Heather Baron-Gracie explains how important this single is in relation to ‘what it’s like to be a woman in this world’: “It’s about how society describes, judges and criticizes women on a daily basis.. This song is incredibly important to me and I wanted to represent my own experiences. “
Pale Wave are a indie rock band from Manchester which was formed in 2014. Initially they were called Creek and they were formed by singer and guitarist Heather Baron-Gracie and drummer Ciara Doran when they were both studying at BIMM (Brithis And Irish Modern Music Institute) university. In a second wave, guitarist Ben Bateman and bassist Ryan Marsden arrived, but they held out for a short time, leaving their place, respectively, to Hugo Silvani and Charlie Wood. With that more stable line-up, they began to record some demos in 2015, which caught the attention of the Dirty Hit record label, which signed them in 2017. With this company they released their first single, “There´s A Honey”Released April 21. In June of that same year, Pale Waves opened for The 1975 in a packed town of Madison Square Garden. There, a good relationship began with the star band and their singer, Matty Healy, directed the video for their second single, “Television Romance”. In December of that same year they embarked on their first tour of North America for which they performed 21 concerts in four weeks.
In September 2018, Pale Waves released their first album, “My Mind Makes Noises”, Which was very high on the charts: number one on the British indie chart and on the Heat in the United States.
On February 12, the group launched “Who Am I?”, His second LP, which has also broken into several charts and was again No. 1 on the UK Indie charts. His music is a fiery combination of indie pop, indie rock, pop punk, dream pop and synth pop, reminiscent of e influencias de The Cranberries, The 1975, The Blue Nile, Avril Lavigne, Madonna, Prince, The Cure… and many others more. But the biggest rising is Dolores O´Riordan, singer of The Cranberries, of whom Baron-Gracie declares himself an absolute fan. And you can see it.
Pale Waves they deliver a great song and a great video. That is not news, it is pleasure.
