New York City is one of the most waste-intensive cities in the world.
Due to the dense population, New York City has long had a problem with trash disposal. The city has taken various measures to manage its garbage efficiently.
The waste is not processed directly on site. It is shipped to incinerators and landfills in Ohio and South Carolina.
New York City is an incredibly large metropolis. With more than eight million inhabitants, the so-called “Big Apple” is the largest city in the USA and the third largest in the world. And she has a big problem with garbage.
With its enormous population living in just 790 square kilometers, New York City is also the most densely populated large city in the United States. Over 10,000 people live per square mile, mostly in high-rise buildings, the tallest of which reaches a staggering 98 floors.
However, a large number of people also means a lot of garbage. The New York City Department of Sanitation offers trash pickup appointments for every apartment building in the city several times a week. However, due to the sheer density of the population, New York City has long had a problem with trash disposal Problem, and the city has taken various measures to manage its garbage efficiently.
