The police named the manager of the Tunas Kasih Olayama Raya Foundation Orphanage, Jalan Pelita, Medan City as a suspect because exploiting children. Now, the perpetrator has been detained at the Medan Police.
Medan Police Chief Commissioner Valentino Alfa Tatareda explained that the perpetrator named Zamanueli Zebua or ZZ was detained for examination, Tuesday (19/9) at around 18.00 WIB. Then from the results of the examination, ZZ was named a suspect, Wednesday (20/9).
“ZZ was named a suspect because he carried out economic exploitation for personal gain,” Valentino was quoted as saying detikNorth SumatraThursday (21/9/2023).
Valentino said the orphanage was managed by the suspect and his wife. The orphanage is also not licensed.
“ZZ manages the home with his wife. Currently his wife is still being investigated. The status of this home also does not have a permit,” he added.
Police explained that there were 26 children being cared for at the orphanage. There are also 4 children who are still babies and the other children are in elementary and middle school.
