Manager of the Maître Hanche farm-brewery in Bagneux, Agnès Didier hopes to take over before the end of the year
Last year, the general public got to know L’Amour est dans le pré. Manager of the farm-brewery of Maître Hanche in Bagneux in Toulois, Agnès Didier was the first master-brewer candidate for the reality show. Established for ten years, Meurthe-et-Mosellane produces between 120 and 140 hectoliters of beer each year, notably with “La Vagabonde”. She too has seen the costs soar. Especially the glassware part. “It has increased by 42%, she calculates. Last November, some friends advised me to wait, saying they were playing with us, but I couldn’t afford to delay my order. »
Business up by 15 to 20%
Fortunately for her, the other expenditure items (raw materials, energy, etc.) have not (yet) caused the accounts to explode. “I renegotiated my electricity contract and I’m not doing too badly,” she explains. As for cereals, such as barley, I still have stocks. »
And since she no longer has a current loan, Agnès Didier admits that she probably absorbed the shock a little better than other brewers.
Better: with the end of the health crisis, the launch of new beers (an IPA and one with red fruits) and, inevitably, the media exposure linked to the show, she admits that her activity has increased “from 15 to 20 %”. But that does not prevent him from considering passing the baton in the coming months. “I’m 58 and it’s exhausting to be in the tanks all day, she slips. I would like to hand over before the end of the year. »
Candidates would already be interested in taking over the business. A business that… grows despite soaring prices…
