- Investigation of the origin of claims (accidents, fires, water damage, etc.).
- Evaluates the amount of damage (bodily, material, economic, etc.) and offers compensation to the parties concerned (victims, policyholders, etc.) according to insurance regulations and the guarantees provided for in the contracts taken out.
- Can propose adaptations or evolutions of insurance products to the marketing department.
- Can coordinate a team.
How to get into this job?
This profession is accessible with a diploma from Bac+2 level (BTS, DUT, etc.) to Master (professional Master’s degree, diploma from a Grandes Ecoles, etc.) in the sectors of law, insurance supplemented by experience professional in the insurance industry. Professional experience or knowledge of a specific sector (building, real estate, transport, medical, etc.) may be required depending on the sector of intervention. Access to the services of the Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie is by competitive examination. Approvals or professional certifications (issued by the Ministry of Justice or by a Federation of Insurance Experts) are required to exercise the functions of insurance expert in specific fields or to intervene in legal proceedings.
