Dundee United manager Tam Courts is desperate to keep Benjamin Siegrist despite interest from Scottish Premiership rivals Celtic, speaking to the Daily Record.
While the Hoops are still on the market for a new number one, the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as Neil Lennon’s replacement changes things slightly.
The former Australia coach, a disciple of Johan Cruyff’s principles of possession, generally expects his goalkeeper to be as comfortable with his feet as he is with his hands.

That is why Mat Ryan, the Brighton glove player who played with Postecoglou for several years internationally, has already emerged as a possible addition to a Celtic team that, if all goes according to plan, will play football reminiscent of the super successful. Brendan Rodgers was next season.
But does Siegrist fit the Postecoglou model?
Could Benjamin Siegrist be Celtic’s new goalkeeper?
While he is undeniably a talented shooting stopper, perhaps even the best in the division, the 29-year-old is not famous for his distribution.
The Sun (May 30, page 59) reported that Siegrist is patiently awaiting an offer from Celtic.
However, it remains to be seen if one makes it.
“We understand that these players will not be here for eight, nine, ten seasons,” Courts said when asked about the future of Siegrist and forward Lawrence Shankland.
“Both players are extremely valuable to the club.

“Benji had a phenomenal season and I imagine there will be a lot of interest in him for that. I would be surprised if there was no interest after the season it had.
“We have to try to do everything possible to extend their careers here.”
In December, Siegrist’s agent, Dr. Thomas Kraft, admitted that Celtic had investigated the former young Aston Villa on several occasions.
And, with just one year remaining on his contract, Dundee United may be forced to accept offers in the region of £ 400,000.
A few weeks ago, Siegrist himself said he was “aiming for the next step” in his career. The courts, then, may already be fighting a losing battle.
