The Portuguese footballer Wilson Manafá was successfully operated on his right knee, after the injury suffered on Thursday at FC Porto’s reception to Benfica (3-1), informed the dragons today.
“The surgical intervention to which Wilson Manafá was subjected this Friday, at the Order of São Francisco, in Porto, was successful. The right lateral was operated, without complications, by Professor José Carlos Noronha for a rupture of the patellar tendon of the knee right,” it reads.
In the same statement, FC Porto says that “now follows the appropriate recovery period for these injuries”
After the match on Thursday, at Estádio do Dragão, FC Porto had revealed that Manafá had suffered a ruptured tendon in the patellar tendon in his right knee, an injury that needs to be corrected with surgery.
The right-back was injured in the second half of the ‘classic’ this Thursday, against Benfica, in the 16th round of the championship, which the ‘blues and whites’ won 3-1, following a fall, and he left the lawn on a stretcher.
The 27-year-old Luso-Guinean defender had entered the match after 29 minutes, to replace João Mário, who also left with physical complaints, after a bid disputed with Benfica player Vertonghen.
FC Porto added that João Mário has a muscle problem in his left thigh, to be reassessed today.
