It was a patrol that observed an agitated man screaming outside a parked car in which two men were sitting on Torshov in Oslo.
– The patrol then saw that the man was carrying a machete. The patrol took control of the suspect, as well as the two people in the car. No one is injured.
The police initially wrote that it appeared as if the parties knew each other from before, but in an update the police write that the two in the car say they did not know the suspect from before. The man also allegedly threatened those in the car with the machete.
The police had to threaten with weapons to get the man to stop, says operations manager Rune Hekkelstrand.
– But it was not necessary to use weapons.
He says the patrol accidentally came across the incident on one of its trips around Oslo.
The man is well known to the police from before, the police have opened a case of threats with a knife.
The man has been arrested, and the three involved have not yet been questioned.
