Man who was shot on the terrace of a café in Schaerbeek has died

The 44-year-old man who was shot on the evening of Sunday, April 28, on the terrace of a café in the Brussels municipality of Schaarbeek, died from his injuries. This is reported by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.

The shooting took place on Sunday evening, April 28, around 10:30 p.m. in Joseph Brandstraat in Schaerbeek. The 44-year-old man, Augustin Kaza, was sitting on the terrace of a cafe having a drink. A masked man appeared to be walking by, but suddenly turned around and shot the man four times. Kaza received one bullet in the head and three in the chest.

Kaza was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, but he has since died from his injuries. The public prosecutor’s office reported this on Monday.

The gunman fled after the shooting and is missing. The investigation is still ongoing.
