The Badajoz Provincial Court has sentenced a man accused of trying to cut off the hands of his ex-partner after refusing to resume a relationship with him to eleven years and three months in prison. The woman after the serious attack has partially lost functionality in both of her arms.

For the crime of injuries, he is sentenced to ten years and six months in prison and the prohibition of approaching a distance of less than 500 meters from the victim, his home and place of work, as well as the prohibition of communication with him, for any reason. average, in both cases, for sixteen years.
Likewise, for the crime of breaching a precautionary measure, he is sentenced to nine months in prison, as reported by the Superior Court of Justice of Extremadura (TSJEx) in a press release, in which it has added that the Chamber also sentences him to compensate to the victim for civil liability with 148,633.16 euros.
The sentence establishes as proven facts that on December 26, 2020 the aggressor, despite having a restraining order in force against the victim, broke into his home at around 11:10 p.m. after violently hitting the door and breaking it down.

It took the woman 425 days to recover after an extremely complex medical-surgical treatment and specific functional rehabilitation over a long period of time. She currently presents sequelae, such as partial loss of functionality in both arms.
The sentence is not final and an appeal can be made against it before the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Extremadura.
