Man who threatened with knife at Schiphol had no terrorist motive | NOW

The man who threatened with a knife at Schiphol on Monday evening had no terrorist motive. This is currently assumed, the military police reported Tuesday after an investigation.

The man threatened several people in one of the departure halls. Because he did not respond to a call to put down his weapon, the military police shot him in the leg. Then the man could be overpowered.

According to the Marechaussee, the suspect is a 27-year-old man of Tanzanian nationality. He would have been a nuisance before. Details on this have not been disclosed. The incident at Schiphol is being further investigated by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee.

A second person, who could be seen on camera images along with the man, was arrested later in the evening. He is no longer a suspect in the investigation.
