Man who stabbed Uber driver in Grapevine dies in crash


Dallas – The suspect in a Grapevine carjacking during which an Uber driver was stabbed multiple times died in a car accident.

Cesar Soto, 33, of Lewisville was killed in a car accident Friday in Weatherford, Grapevine police announced Tuesday. Authorities learned of the accident on Monday and waited until Soto’s family was notified before announcing his death publicly.

Soto had been wanted on an aggravated robbery warrant after the May 13 incident in which he stabbed his Uber driver. The driver, whose name was not released, was dropping off a passenger at the Amli Apartments in the 400 block of Dallas Road when the man attacked him and drove off in his Toyota Camry.

The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries.

The stolen car was later found in Colleyville.

Weatherford police reported an accident Friday afternoon on Interstate 20 near Center Point Road, resulting in a partial closure of the highway.

According to him Weatherford Democrat, a westbound vehicle was speeding past other vehicles in the inside lane, then traversed a damaged portion of a safety barrier lined with cables into opposing lanes. He collided with an eastbound vehicle.
