28-year-old Eindhoven resident Alex Schot has started a crowdfunding campaign to pay the costs of his lawsuit. Schot, until today known as Alex S., steps out and explains on a website why he needs the money. The Public Prosecution Service suspects him, among other things, of assisted suicide. With a trade in a suicide powder, he would have earned 55,000 euros.
The case against the Eindhoven resident is still ongoing. The first pro forma hearing was held in October last year, at which the Public Prosecution Service (OM) told what Schot is suspected of. It’s about:
- assisted suicide (the sale of the drug Middel X via Marktplaats),
- violation of the Medicines Act (the sale of an anti-emetic drug that is necessary for Drug X),
- money laundering, because he lived off his earnings.
Regret after ingestion
According to the Public Prosecution Service, at least fifteen people have died as a result of Schot. Another 18 people have died after doing business with him. It cannot be proven that Agent X ended their lives. These people were between 41 and 82 years old.
According to the public prosecutor, Alex sold the drug to a young man, who ended up in intensive care after ingestion. He is now a witness in the case and, according to the OM, indicated that he regrets his decision and that he is happy that he is still alive.
The fact that Schot did not ask his customers questions and simply sold is heavily blamed on him by the Public Prosecution Service. According to justice, he earned about 55,000 euros with the sale.
‘Most expensive possession is my bicycle’
In October Alex himself also spoke in court. He spoke of his belief: “I wanted to help people take control of their own lives, the way I want to,” he said.
On the website where the fundraiser is located he now elaborates on this. “We are not the property of the state, we must be able to decide for ourselves what we do with our bodies and lives,” it reads.
Schot further complains about the ill-treatment he received after he was arrested in July 2021 and denies making a lot of money from his trade. “I qualify for special assistance because of my protected housing indication. If I had taken this benefit during those four years, I would have received an amount of more than 57 thousand, without the risk of a prison sentence and prosecution. my arrest less than 500 euros in my account (..) My most expensive possession is my bicycle.”
25.000 euro
Schot is considering starting a case at the European Court of Human Rights. He is now starting the crowdfunding campaign to cover all costs. By Saturday morning, more than 8,000 euros had already been raised. His aim is to raise 25,000 euros.
