Man who killed 66-year-old Tilburger reports to police

The driver who killed a pedestrian in Tilburg and then continued driving has turned himself in to the police. It concerns a 22-year-old man from Rotterdam. Shortly after the collision, the police already arrested two men (17 and 22). The victim is a 66-year-old Tilburger, who was walking his dog.

The accident happened on Monday evening at the Besterdring in Tilburg. The victim was walking down the street with his dog when he was hit by a car. Witnesses said the car was driving on the wrong side of the road. Emergency services tried to resuscitate the victim, but to no avail.

The dog was unharmed and managed to find its way home on its own.

Men flee into sandwich shop
The car took off at high speed after the collision. The driver stopped the car on Bisschop Sonniusstraat. Officers eventually found the car there. The three men who were in the car had fled to a sandwich shop on the Veldhovenring.

In that sandwich shop, the police arrested two people from Tilburg, they were probably in the car during the collision. It concerns two men, aged 17 and 22. A few hours later, the driver turned himself in to the police station. All three men are in custody.

Third incident with driver
It is the third incident in a short time in Brabant in which a car continued to drive after causing an accident. A cyclist was seriously injured in Eindhoven last weekend; earlier on Monday evening a cyclist was kicked in Oostelbeers. Only the motorist who made the mistake in Oostelbeers has been arrested.
