Russell Martin’s first move to the Swansea City manager is expected to be a raid on Manchester United, according to TEAMtalk.
We understand Martin targeted a deal for Ethan Laird, a player he had at Milton Keynes Dons. The much-loved 19-year-old defender has already played first-team football after appearing in the Europa League in 2019.
Laird is just recovering from an injury he picked up at MK Dons – but he’s almost in great shape.
Uni were considering their options but they are ready to sanction a South Wales loan with Martin, who knows the player well.

Atletico replace United target
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have resigned themselves to losing Kieran Trippier to Manchester United this summer and are fielding their replacement, according to a report.
United have been following the England full-back all summer. However, they have been patient in the pursuit of Burnley’s former man.
Atletico have made it clear they won’t let him go without a fight. They have a € 40million (£ 34.5million) exit clause in his deal and will get as close as possible to it before letting him go.
However, according to LIKE, Diego Simeone is resigned to losing Burnley’s ex-man and has started looking for replacements.
And a man who fits the bill is Roma right-back Alessandro Florenzi.
Italian media report that Atleti are hoping to lure the 30-year-old to Madrid. His contract expires in 2023 and, according to Nicolo Schira, he has no future under Jose Mourinho in Rome.
Florenzi has been loaned to Valencia and PSG for the past two seasons and Florenzi has not been to Portugal for Roma’s pre-season tour.
Atleti set to go after Florenzi if United come back with a serious offer for Trippier.
