Man United Vs Middlesbrough Continue to Extra Round

Manchester United entertain Middlesbrough at Old Trafford, Saturday (5/2/2022) early morning WIB in the fourth round of the FA Cup. ‘Red Devils’ appear very dominant and have a chance to lead in the 20th minute through a penalty.

Penalty! Manchester United got a penalty in the 19th minute after Paul Pogba was fouled by Anfernee Dijksteel. Ronaldo stepped forward as the executor and targeted the left corner of the goal, but his shot went wide!

GOAL! MU made up for the missed penalty with a goal in the 25th minute. Getting a pass from Bruno Fernandes, Sancho opened the gap to the keeper, then fired a left-footed shot that crossed the goalkeeper.

A shot from Marcus Rashford in the 31st minute slipped past the Middlesbrough goalkeeper and went in. But it didn’t become a goal because it was offside first.

Another opportunity from Rashford in the 41st minute stopped in the hands of Joe Lumley. The first half ended for MU’s advantage, which appeared very dominant.

MU wasted valuable opportunities in the 53rd minute. Sancho crossed in from the left and was found free-standing Rashford in front of goal. But the flick just widens!

Middlesbrough threatened back four minutes later. Matt Crooks latched onto Isaiah Jones’ pass and was well parried by Dean Henderson.

GOAL! Middlesbrough equalized the score in the 63rd minute. Duncan Watmore found the ball on the left in the box, then passed it to the right and it was finished by Matt Crooks.

MU had protested this goal because they considered that there was a handball by Watmore. Replays showed the ball did hit his hand shortly after bouncing off the ground. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) reviewed but declared the goal valid!

MU continued the pressure. Lumley’s flawless clearance fell to Fernandes, but his shot just hit the post and rolled out.

Fred sent a cross from the right into the Middlesbrough penalty box. Anthony Elanga met it with a header, but it ended wide of goal.

Fred again created opportunities for MU in the 92nd minute, this time piercing on the left side. His cross was headed by Elanga, the ball just slid into Lumley’s arms.

Until normal time runs out, no other goals are created. The game continued to 30 minutes of extra time.
