Man tries to kill brother-in-law with secateurs because of shares in Braga

Good news. A woman from Póvoa de Lanhoso, called Alice, touched by the situation of eviction of an elderly couple living in Vieira do Minho, offered a home for them to live free of charge as long as they need it.

TO MINHO, the president of the Junta de Guilhofrei, parish where the couple lived until this afternoon, after being evicted, indicates that the woman saw the right made by the radio Cabreira Waves, this morning, and was touched by the situation.

“The lady called the Junta headquarters and offered to offer a free stay in a house that belongs to a son, located in the parish of Taíde, in Póvoa de Lanhoso, as long as the couple needed it,” said the mayor.

Family evicted from home where they lived for 27 years in Vieira do Minho

However, the ‘good news’ has not yet been communicated to the elderly, who are going to spend the night with a daughter in the municipality of Barcelos.

“I haven’t talked to the family about this offer yet, it was even now at the end of the afternoon and I haven’t had a chance yet, but the offer is good because it allows them to stay there as long as necessary without any cost”, he explains.

Despite the offer, which José Fernando Castro classifies as “a good option”, he is convinced that the couple prefers to continue to live in Guilhofrei, land where they have lived for several decades and where they “feel good”.

“Of course they wanted to stay in Guilhofrei, but anyway, we Junta and the social action of the Chamber, we will try to find a house here for them to stay”, he assures.

“In principle, today or tomorrow, the family will see a house that is for sale and find out if the owner can lease with a purchase option, so that the family can take out a loan to acquire it,” he explains.

If this is not possible, the municipality is trying to find other houses in the parish where the family can live, although they do not discard the offer of Mrs. Alice, of the move to Póvoa de Lanhoso.

It is recalled that this family was evicted today from the dwelling where they lived 27 years ago after a decision by the Braga court. Despite having acquired the house for 80 contos, in 1994, the purchase of the house was not communicated to the administrative entities, so now, the heirs of the former owner, who died in 2001, want to take advantage of the space.

This afternoon’s eviction ended up causing quite a stir among the inhabitants of that parish, causing the parish priest, Father Alcino Xavier da Silva, to face the manifesto, appealing to the heirs to let the family return “to what is rightfully theirs ”.
