Man threatens passersby in Oslo, police shoot him dead

In Oslo, a man has threatened passers-by on the street. According to Norwegian media, the man was armed with a knife. The police shot the man dead.

Police previously spoke of “multiple victims”, but later retracted those words. One officer was slightly injured. Police do not believe the attacker had a terrorist motive.

The man was shot while trying to open the door of a police car. He died in a hospital.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are in Oslo today for a state visit. They were welcomed at the Royal Palace this morning by King Harald and Queen Sonja.

Last month, five people killed by a 37-year-old man with a bow and arrow in Kongsberg, about 80 kilometers southwest of Oslo.
