Man Testifies in Kevin Spacey Trial, Describes Influence of Power in Acting Industry

The man, who was aspiring to advance in the world of acting, said in the course of the trial that he condoned Spacey’s sexual harassment of him “because you cannot stop someone with this amount of influence in the sector that you are trying to take your first steps in.”

A man, visibly moved to tears, testified to a British jury on Monday that he was allegedly sexually assaulted by Kevin Spacey, as part of the American star’s ongoing trial in British courts over allegations of sexual assault.

And the 63-year-old actor, sacrificed to the point of tears, testified before a British jury on Monday about his alleged sexual assault by Kevin Spacey, as part of the ongoing trial of the American star before the British judiciary on charges of sexual assault. A series of sexual crimes against four men took place between 2001 and 2013, especially from 2004 when he was director of the Old Vic Theater in the British capital.

A fourth of Spacey’s alleged victims, whose names have not been released for legal reasons, said he had previously heard gossip about the movie star about his love for “heterosexual youth”. But he said he did not know at that point that he was a sexual “bully”.

Prosecutors in the case allege that Spacey was a “sexual bully” who enjoyed making others feel uncomfortable. Three other men recounted being repeatedly sexually harassed by the star, despite their request that he stop. In a police interview presented to the court, the fourth plaintiff said he left the actor’s apartment in tears when he refused to comply with his sexual desires.

The man, who was aspiring to advance in the world of acting, told a policeman that he condoned Spicey’s sexual harassment of him “because you cannot stop someone who has so much power in the sector you are trying to take your first steps in.” He pointed out that “the social influence enjoyed by (Spacey) is enormous,” stressing that what happened was not consensual.

The two met after the plaintiff wrote to the actor asking for help in the field, and was surprised when Spicey invited him to have drinks together. The plaintiff pointed out that he ate pizza with Spicy and smoked weed with him, before being harassed by the movie star, who described him as “very strange”, which made him nervous.

The plaintiff recalled that he slept in Spicey’s apartment, only to wake up a few hours later and find the actor trying to perform a sexual act with him, so he could only stop him, so that Spicey then asked him to leave, according to the plaintiff’s testimony. The man added to the policeman: “(Spacey) told me I shouldn’t talk to anyone about what happened.”

Spacey’s trial began late last month at Southern Crown Court in south London. Spacey denies three counts of indecent assault, seven counts of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without his consent.

He is also pleading not guilty on another charge of causing a person to engage in sexual activity involving penetration without his consent. Spacey’s trial is expected to last about a month.
