Man Suffers Life-Threatening Stab Wounds in Bloody Dispute in Düsseldorf’s Old Town

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – In a bloody dispute in Düsseldorf’s old town, a man suffered life-threatening stab wounds. The 29-year-old and a companion clashed verbally with an unknown group of presumably young people on Sunday night until the conflict escalated, according to the Düsseldorf public prosecutor and police. The 29-year-old was then attacked from within the group and was so badly injured by several stitches that he had to be operated on in the hospital. The group fled, according to initial findings, it consisted of four to five people.

A search was initially unsuccessful, and the background to the crime remained unclear. The investigators evaluate the act as attempted homicide, and a homicide commission is investigating. Video recordings would also be evaluated, it said. Witnesses are urgently needed.
