On the night of Monday 12 to Tuesday 13 August 2024, a patrol from the Briançon police station was called in for the theft of a vehicle belonging to a healthcare worker at the Escartons hospital in Briançon, according to the National Police.
On site, the applicant reported that her work bag (containing her vehicle keys) and her car (with her handbag inside) had been stolen from the car park of the hospital where she works. A “patient” behaving suspiciously had previously been “identified” on the hospital premises. This person, previously registered at the emergency reception, never showed up for the appointment.
Identified by telephone survey
Following this recording and with the information gathered, the Briançon police carried out a search by telephone survey: it appeared that the vehicle was leaving the department towards Isère. Interdepartmental cooperation was quickly set up with the Isère gendarmerie and police services to locate and arrest the individual.
After further searches by telephone survey, throughout the day, around 8 p.m. the vehicle was reported in the Voiron area, still in Isère. The staff of the Voiron National Police station quickly arrested the individual on board the stolen vehicle. He was subsequently taken into custody.
