Man stands trial for harassing singer Hoshi on social media: Singer publicly regrets absence of prosecutions against other perpetrators

A man is on trial Friday for harassing singer Hoshi on social media. The young woman says she has been a victim of this type of message for three years and her passage on the Victoires de la Musique stage. She publicly regretted the absence of prosecutions against other perpetrators.

“Here hate kills, damn, I don’t understand / Why am I using them as bait?” A few days ago, singer Hoshi unveiled her latest title I leave in which she evokes her anxieties. Personal and musical news that coincides with a judicial reality: a man accused of having harassed the artist on social networks is appearing this Friday.

On January 13, in a long message posted on Twitter, Hoshi revealed that she was “scared every time” she went on stage, afraid of being “attacked”. Blame it on three years of cyberbullying suffered by the artist, nominated for the Victoires de la Musique in the “Stage Revelation” category in 2020. It was his performance during this ceremony that marked the starting point for this wave of messages. hate received by the young woman of 26 years.

“Dirty LBGT”, “you don’t deserve to live”, “you’re a sub-woman”, “we’re going to kill your account” … This type of message, Hoshi says he received thousands after his interpretation of his title love censorship at the Victoires de la Musique at the end of which she kissed her companion.

“Pack Stalker”

Faced with this homophobic wave of which she was the victim, the young woman filed a complaint in March 2020 for “moral and sexual harassment in a pack”, “death and rape threats”, “aggravated insults” and “provocation to hatred” .

At the end of the investigation under the aegis of the national center for the fight against online hatred, a man has been identified and will be tried for “moral harassment because of the sexual orientation of the victim”, committed between February 14 2020 and March 11, 2020 on Hoshi.

“We are going to bleed you dirty sow”, “dyke”, “we warned you” … According to our information, the man, a young adult at the time of the events, sent many messages in private to the young woman. When it blocked him, he created new accounts. On a forum, he had also invited other Internet users to insult the singer.

Provocative, in police custody, he put forward the fact that he was in a difficult period and put forward that it was “only words”.

“He is the typical example of a stalker in a pack,” laments a source familiar with the matter.

Other perpetrators have been identified, all minors. It is then up to the local prosecutors, depending on the place of residence of the teenager, to decide whether to prosecute them or not. Many messages have also been deleted, making it impossible to identify their authors.

Only one author in court this Friday

In January, the singer denounced on Twitter the fact that only one person will end up in court this Friday.

“In France, you can threaten people, make homophobic remarks and go out freely in the street because justice does nothing”, lamented the young woman

Hoshi then revealed to live a “psychological and physical hell”. She claims to have had 28 days of ITT (total incapacity for work), to have had to move and to have lost 10 kilos because of these threats and insults.

“I who love my country so much, I have just lost faith in its justice”, wrote the young woman again, appealing to Emmanuel Macron: “Save us while there is still time, do not wait for it to end badly before you take an interest in the files”.

“(The police say) that there are no more means. When there are penalties that are applied, they have to be much firmer to take away the desire for people to start over, and to give ideas to some. If the penalties are not applied, it starts again”, she mentioned last April on the set of Daily.

Last December, 11 people were given three to six month suspended prison sentences for the online harassment of singer Eddy de Pretto in June 2021 after singing at the Saint-Eustache church in the capital.
