NEW YORK – The 36-year-old Queens man who allegedly ran over his wife while their three young children were inside the van reportedly stabbed her, New York City police said Wednesday as they shared details more chilling than the case.
The man was charged with attempted murder and endangerment of minors, among other offences.
Stephen Giraldo allegedly sat in a Ford Explorer pickup truck Tuesday morning outside the Flushing building where his wife lived with their 6-, 9- and 11-year-old children, and was apparently waiting for her, according to the police officer.
The mother gets out and heads to the van at around 5:15 a.m., surveillance footage shows, and Giraldo allegedly knocked her over and crashed into her as her children watched in horror. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
In addition, Giraldo was also found to have stabbed her, after he allegedly ran her over, police added.
The woman was still in critical condition according to the latest NYPD update.
The suspect was arrested on the spot. The children were not injured.
It was unclear who the children were left with.
In addition to attempted murder and child endangerment, Giraldo is charged with assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a weapon in the case. His attorney’s information was not immediately available.
