Last Sunday evening, a 39-year-old man from Rotselaar entered cafe De Zijbeuk, also in Rotselaar. When the manager asked him to show his Covid Safe Ticket, the man put a revolver on the counter. He also put a bullet in it. A discussion ensued and the manager asked the man to leave. The man took the revolver again and when he was outside he fired a shot into the air. Then he rode off on his motorcycle.
The police were called in and they were eventually able to arrest and question the man. According to the man, he had to deal with a lot of setbacks privately, and showing the corona pass was the proverbial drop that made the bucket overflow. The man was allowed to dispose of his weapon after his interrogation, but his weapon was confiscated. The public prosecutor’s office in Leuven will now decide what will happen to the man.
