Barricaded in the bathroom of an apartment, armed and making the disastrous decision to shoot at NYPD officers, a suspect was shot to death in Manhattan.
The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. this Thursday, at 206 Eldridge Street, on the Lower East Side. The subject was hiding in apartment 2-C of a building.
Our reporter Gary Merson, from Univision 41, reported that the suspect had been wanted since October, in connection with a shooting where one person was shot.
Police negotiated with the suspect, who ended up shooting the officers
Two women called the NYPD to alert them that the man was barricaded in the apartment’s bathroom.
For more than two hours, officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect to surrender. They even used a drone to get closer, but ended up destroying it with a broomstick.
A robot with a double channel of communication and a camera was another of the technological resources that the Police used for the negotiations, but everything was in vain.
The suspect asked for medicine and to talk to his family, however, when he decided to leave the bathroom, he shot up to four times at the agents, who responded with bullets and fatally wounded him in the torso.
Paramedics helped him and took him to a hospital, where he was declared dead shortly after.
