A 36-year-old man was shot in the head outside his home in Brooklyn early Wednesday morning and police are looking for a suspect.
The victim, whom police identified as Modassar Khandaker, was shot after midnight on the 200 block of Forbell Street Cypress Hills. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities note that Khandaker was found next to a vehicle and the door was opened on the driver’s side. It’s not clear if he was getting in or out of the car.
So far, there are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing. No other information was immediately available.
Shooting incidents in New York City and the number of people shot in those incidents increased by 30 percent so far this year compared to last year, according to NYPD data.
Since Mayor Eric Adams unveiled his “Plan to end Gun Violence” Jan.24, at least 49 people have been shot and at least 12 killed in the city.
